71 numbers on
a round wall
I installed 71 numbers of
high-grade steel on a round wall. All numbers, except the first,
are digits of the wellknown in science number e = 2,718281828459... The
connection of a Pi-defined wall with a horizontal line, that is formed
by "e" was the obvious thing to make because of the brilliant formula,
that was created by Euler: e exp (i*pi) = – 1
2 glass objects
In the grass you can see two glass
squares with somthing inside - a sphere in the first one and two channels
in the other one. The sphere creates interference pattern by a mirror -
a dynamic form appears. The crossing channels give a static form between
the roots of the tree and the technical channels of the building.
5 glass squares
inside the building
Scientific data and fundamental
scientific works were transformed into visible structures using the software
programm THE MAGIC PIWORLD by JVS. Each of the squares is a glass sheet
133 x 133 cm fixed on the wall.
PSE: 69 696 red squares show the chemical properties of 112 elements. The digits define the color of the square.
M33: The 258 716 digits of the prime number M 33 = 2 exp 859433 - 1, found in 1994 by David Slowinski and Paul Gage, are written in 458 rows and 565 columns.
π : The first 75 492 digits of the circular number Pi were transformed into ellipses and arranged in 699 rows and 108 columns.
e: The first 718 281 digits of "e" were transformed into a trace.
const: Extracts of fundamental scientific works by Aristoteles, Kopernikus, Kepler, Darwin, Freud and Einstein were transformed into a new script.
